I’m Daryl Jones and I’m a reader who has evolved into a writer.   Reading and writing are the core of my creative practice, with music as a constant influence.  I write primarily for myself, but I hope to create something honest and meaningful that others, especially young people, may find valuable and inspiring when they need it most.  Reading has been invaluable in making me the person I am.  I hope my writing reflects the way others have shaped me and maybe resonate with those who read it.

While I serve as a circuit court judge, off the bench and outside of work, I’m a husband and a father who continuously works on improving myself and helping others.  I’ve served as an adjunct professor and taught leadership, ethics, and professional development to law students.  Most people desire and deserve to be heard, understood, and supported.  I believe we all have the potential to grow in some aspect of our lives if we set goals for ourselves and have the right support.  I want to express positivity like this and share it openly through my writing.

This space was built to be a writing gallery rather than a typical blog.  I look at this as a space where I can be creative and where my writing can evolve over time.  I want this space to feel imperfect but intentional.  Eventually, I want to have a collection of my work that readers, like you, may be able to discover and explore.

I’m currently a member of the Chicago Literary Club and the Visible Man Review.  I continue to read and learn every day.  But, I want to write more and share more.  My ultimate goal is for my writing to feel honest and meaningful to me, while also possibly being inspiring to others, as they say … even if just one other person.
